What did he mean by this?  A mind consumed with depression or anxiety tends to be locked in a cycle that deepens the anxiety and depression.  Meditation enables the subconscious mind to solve the problems rationally and with absolute perfection, while the conscious mind takes a holiday from its self-destructive state. The alternative, positive thinking, process secured through meditation is best described using an analogy:
